Star Cinema, through its Managing Director Malou Santos and Advertising and Promotions Head Roxy Liquigan, is questioning the inclusion of Brillante Ma. Mendoza’s “Thy Womb” in the upcoming Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2012 due to the following demerits that go against the rules of the festival:
1. The film has already been entered in another festivals (Venice International Film Festival, Toronto and Busan Film Festivals);
2. No two films should have the same lead star (Nora is also in the cast of Mark Meily’s “El Presidente”);
3. Only two movies of the same genre can enter the festival (“El Presidente” and Star Cinema's “One More Try” are the first two drama movies approved by the MMFF in the initial screening)
Wag nang buhayin ang bangkay. Old issue that has been settled. All concerned have agreed to include Thy Womb in MMFF after a meeting with stakeholders.
ReplyDeleteLate na ang balitang ito:
ReplyDelete1. Local film festivals ang nasa rules ng MMFF. Sumali ang "Thy Womb" sa international filmfests.
2. Nora plays support in "El Presidente" and lead in "Thy womb."
3. "El Presidente" is historical/epic/action drama while "Thy Womb" is drama.
