There’s nothing extraordinary about the presence of the Sports TV5 logo during Team Smart Gilas games at the ongoing FIBA tournament as broadcasted by Channel 13. Team Smart Gilas and Sports TV5 are owned by Manny V. Pangilinan (MVP) so it’s quite normal his managers to maximize media mileage.
It was only MVP who bid and won the airing of the PBA games so he needs a network to broadcast them in. It cannot be over TV5 as Willie Revillame’s Wil Time Big Time airs on its primetime block.
The buzz is that these are tell-tale signs that MVP had bought sequestered Channel 13 which is up for sales for the longest time. The on-going recruitment of technical personnel by Channel 13 is being considered as another sign of this rumored purchase.
This is logical but not fool-proof. There’s always Aksyon TV to narrowcast it in. MVP’s purchase of Channel 13 is speculation until now but not impossible.
