Both ABS-CBN and GMA-7 claimed that they topped National TV Ratings last month, September 2011. Kapamilya Network got their figures from Kantar Media Research while Kapuso Network's claim was supported by AGB Nielsen Phils.
Here's the Highlights of their Press Release/ Statement :
ABS-CBN
1. ABS-CBN Corporation once again dominated national TV ratings as it scored an average audience share of 42 percent or a whopping 12-point lead over GMA’s 30 percent in September on primetime from 6 PM onwards when TV viewing levels peak and where advertisers put most of their TV ad placements.2. Data from Kantar Media also showed that in Metro Manila, ABS-CBN led all TV channels on primetime with an average audience share of 35 percent vs GMA’s 33%.
3. Thirteen out of the top 15 most watched programs in September were on ABS-CBN, sweeping the top ten slots. GMA’s top rating locally produced program, “Amaya,” only ranked 15th.
4. The live airing of the prestigious “Miss Universe 2011” in Sao Paolo, Brazil where Shamcey Supsup bagged the third runner up honor, rated an unprecented 31% during daytime, heralding a new benchmark for a beauty pageant genre. This is in stark contrast to GMA-produced “Miss World” where the rival only rated 9.2% in primetime.
5. ABS-CBN registered a consolidated net income of P1.7 billion in the first six months of 2011, while GMA Network reported only a P1.05 billion net income in the same period.
GMA-7
1. Total day (6am-12mn) household audience share data in September (September 25 to 30 based on overnight readings) show that GMA was the most preferred channel in National Urban Philippines relative to ABS-CBN and TV5, clinching 34.1 share points, 4.1 points ahead of ABS-CBN’s 30 points, and almost twice TV5′s 17.3.
2. Less specials, longest running noontime variety show Eat Bulaga was the only daytime program that made it to the list of top five programs in National Urban Television Audience Measurement (NUTAM).
3. In Total Urban Luzon, GMA was ahead by double-digits with total audience share points of 37.6 versus ABS-CBN’s 25.5 and TV5′s 18.4.
4. In Mega Manila, which comprises 17 cities in Metro Manila and six provinces in the suburbs (namely, Cavite, Rizal, Laguna, Bulacan, Pampanga, Batangas), GMA’s established presence likewise inked double-digit margins for the said period. GMA had 38 share points as against ABS-CBN’s 24.3 and TV5′s 19.1.
5. In both Total Urban Luzon and Mega Manila, GMA had seven entries in the list of overall top 10 programs. The GMA programs that made it to top 10 were Eat Bulaga and primetime dramas Amaya, Munting Heredera, Iglot, Time of My Life, and News and Public Affairs’ 24 Oras and Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho.
